Co–founder and former CEO, Optiv
Dan brings more than 28 years of experience in business, technology, cybersecurity and risk management to his role as Query.AI board member.
Currently, he serves as a venture partner with SYN Ventures. Previously, Dan was the CEO of Optiv, which was created in 2015 from the merger of Accuvant and FishNet Security. He co–founded Accuvant in 2002 and helped develop the company into a powerhouse with the breadth, depth and capabilities to address the information security needs of organizations worldwide.
Prior to his achievements with Accuvant, Dan played an integral role in transitioning OneSecure from a managed security services provider to a product company, delivering to the marketplace the first intrusion prevention system. Previously, he served in various senior level positions for Exault, Access Graphics, Arrowpoint, and Netrex.

Patrick is a senior security executive that brings to his role as Query.AI board member more than two decades of experience working in the security sector, spanning Fortune 500 enterprises, cloud providers as well as early-stage security technology companies.
He co-founded SYN Ventures in February 2021 and has been investing professionally since 2017, building on his decades of experience advising and investing in security companies.
Patrick also serves as a partner and the chief information security officer of ClearSky Security. Previously, he held top information security and trust leadership positions at Dropbox, Salesforce.com, Kaiser Permanente and McKesson Corporation.
He also held senior management roles at nCircle, Ernst & Young, and eNetSecure, a subsidiary of Applied Signal Technologies / Raytheon.

Ryan Permeh is a veteran information security technologist, with experience in product development, services, and research, all of which he brings to his role as a board member at Query.
Ryan co-founded and was chief scientist at Cylance which was acquired by Blackberry for $1.4b in 2020. Ryan led the architecture behind Cylance’s mathematical engine and groundbreaking approach to security. Post-acquisition, he worked within the office of the CTO to define technology strategy and architecture. Prior to Cylance, he served as Chief Scientist for McAfee focused on technology strategy, and as a Distinguished Engineer at eEye Digital Security focused on building security assessment tools.
Ryan has published numerous articles, papers, and books, and is a frequent speaker at conferences around the world on the topics of security, privacy, machine learning, and entrepreneurship. His research has led to numerous innovations in both offensive and defensive security technology and he has published over 20 patents in the security and data science fields. He is known as the discoverer and primary analyst of the “Code Red” computer worm and contributed to many other analyses of significant threats over his career.
